Alma Thomas inspired rainbow paintings by 1st Grade

1st graders learned about Alma Thomas last week.  We first painted our papers with watercolor paints starting with a red circle in the middle.  We then painted around the circle using the colors of the rainbow. Alma Thomas was an artist from Georgia who loved to use bright colors in her art work.  Her paintings often looked like mosaics from the way she placed the paint on the canvas so the finial step we did to our paper was to add pieces of construction paper over the paint to complete our pictures. They did a great job!
